Today John will lead you on a casual 37km ride around a number of little-known Parks and Gardens in the near-Eastern suburbs. We won’t spoil the surprise by telling you where we are actually going, but we think you will find it interesting so come along and find out. There will be a number of places where you can opt to hop the train back to Heidelberg station (via Flinders St, not direct). We will be taking it easy on this ride, so allow most of the day so you can have a look around each site we visit.
A couple of things that you should be aware of:
1. This ride will include some riding on suburban roads when traversing the “missing links” between paths,
2. The inner Eastern suburbs is a bit of a hilly place, so expect to be pedalling uphill from time to time!
Don’t forget to sign up and ensure you leave a mobile number so we can contact you in case the ride is cancelled or you don’t show as expected.
There will be some granitic sand surfaces on the Yarra Trail, however these have been suitable for road bikes in the past, so any bike type is suitable.
Meet at the Heidelberg Park carpark for an 0930 start, come earlier if you want to grab a coffee up in Burgundy St. before you start.
