Hello everyone, it’s time to think about next year’s ever popular weekend away trip for MBUG.

This year were off to Beechworth. The date for your calendars are March 19 to the March 21.

Breaking usual out and back formula, there are two loop rides planned.

The accommodation is at the Beechworth Holiday Park, on the east side of town. This is caravan park style accommodation, catering for various needs including; caravan/camping sites, and cabin accommodation, suiting various budgets.

Beechworth is a popular tourist town and accommodation gets booked out early. So please, once you decide you are going, make your booking early. It’s the responsibility for individuals to book their own accommodation. Details below:

Friday March 19: Drive to Beechworth Holiday Park and settle in, lubricate with the recommended red oil . . .and your chains as well. Make sure your bikes are in good working order and the spare tube actually inflates.

Suggested evening meal: BBQ at the facility Camp Kitchen.

Saturday March 20 0830hrs: A loop to Yackandandah and back. Outbound is through bushland and forest trail, but the return is via the Yackandandah/Beechworth Rail Trail. Lunch at a Cafe in Yackandandah. About 46kms and yes there are some hills.

Suggested evening meal: Hotel Nicholas, High St. Beechworth.

Sunday March 21 0830 hrs: A loop down to Everton. Mostly downhill to the Everton General Store, via Bucklands Gap, for a bite and refreshments on a mixture of bitumen and gravel.

The return is on the Murray to Mountains Rail Trail section Everton to Beechworth. The uphill is Rail Trail, so only 3-4%, approx. 51kms. The route can be viewed here:

We hope most people will stay the Sunday night, if we’re lucky there maybe another Quiz session.

Hope you can all come. For family and non-riders, there is plenty to do in the historic towns of Beechworth and Yackandandah.

Some bitumen but also gravel roads/trails, MTB and hybrid recommended.
