A very social outing today. An easy 25km roundtrip from Southern Cross Station (SCS) out to the 2011 Ausbike Exhibition at the Melbourne Showgrounds.  This is an easy ride, almost completely flat along the Maribyrnong Trail to the arch bridge at Pipemakers Park, then up a bit of a hill before levelling off to the Showgrounds.  The track file is here.  Last year cycling patrons were provided with complimentary valet parking for your bike in a safe compound, so that can be expected this year as well.
The Exhibition will give you the chance to drool over the latest in cycling technology and maybe pick up a bargain or two.  It will also have information stands there showcasing great places to ride, so go along and see if you can come back with some great ideas for some MBUG weekend rides.

To get there you can catch the 0817 out of Seymour as it passes through your town and arrive at SCS at 09.36am.  Remember though that there is limited space for bikes on a Sprinter.

If you are travelling all-Metro, carpool to Craigieburn Railway Station in time to buy your Sunday Saver and catch the 09:23 to Southern Cross which will arrive at 10.00am.
Everyone meet at the Myki booth near the Collins/Spencer St exit at 10.05am.
If the weather is inclement, you can catch a train direct from SCS to the Showgrounds (see https://www.ausbike.com.au/page/melbourne-transport-and-parking for other options)
Exhibition entry is only $10 per ticket purchased online at  https://www.ausbike.com.au/page/public-tickets.  Keep your eyes open in the media for two-for-one deals as the event nears.
