Our colleagues at the Friends of the Bendigo Kilmore Rail Trail (FBKRT) have extended an invitation to the MBUG community to attend their forthcoming social ride.
Their invitation email containing the ride and registration details is reproduced below. Remember to register directly with Lindsay Clay directly if you intend going along.
“Our next organised social ride is on Wed May 25th.
The plan is to commence at Tooborac and explore where our future trail heads southward from there. This is a great opportunity for members to explore and familiarize themselves with the features that this section has to offer.
Details are as follows:
We will meet at 9:30am at the Tooborac Recreation Reserve/Hall (on the Heathcote end of Tooborac, just past the Seymour turn off when coming from Heathcote).
The basic ride will be to Pyalong (lunch at the historic Pyalong pub) and return – approximate distance 2x 12 = 24km total distance. It will be along country lanes (except for about 1.5 km on the sealed shoulder of the highway). Mountain bikes, gravel bikes or hybrids are recommended. Road bikes will not be suitable for this ride.
As it will be an “out and back” ride, depending on the riding capability of those that register, the actual features we visit will be determined on the day. Should individuals desire, features such as; “Gut Busters Hill” (for a magnificent panoramic view -walk or ride up), the former Pyalong railway station, the historically classified Mollison Creek Trestle Bridge, extra riding to Pyalong’s Pink Cliffs Railway Cutting and the Hayes Creek Trestle Bridge (maybe whilst others enjoy an extended lunch?) are all on the agenda.
The pub’s lunch menu can be downloaded here. They have requested advance ordering, so when registering please nominate what you wish to eat.
To register please contact Lindsay by either email (firstname.lastname@example.org), txt or mob 0427 439 735 by Monday 23th May.”
