Today we will ride from Epping station down to Fairfield along the recently upgraded Darebin Creek Trail.
The ride is mainly off-road along the Darebin Creek Trail to Fairfield.
The plan is to have a casual lunch in Station St. Fairfield before riding over to Merri station to catch the “silver limo” back to Epping – so don’t forget to bring your Myki and your bike lock.
The route is suitable for all types of bikes, but note that while much of the northern end of the trail is now concreted, there may be a couple of stretches of good-quality gravel remaining in the Preston/Thornbury area. With care, these sections may be ridden on a road bike if you choose to bring it along.
The proposed route and elevations can be viewed at https://ridewithgps.com/routes/27369759.
Meet at Epping station for an 0930 start. The ride is 25km and unless someone has opened a pop-up coffee shop along the trail, there is nowhere to buy tucker (or coffee) until Fairfield.
