Today Tony will lead us on a lovely ride through the granite hills west of Tooborac – an area we have not visited for several years.
Your ride will start at the Tooborac Community hall and recreation reserve where toilets and parking are available. We will get the potentially busiest section of road out of the way early by riding the route clockwise towards Lancefield on the C325 and turning off after about 5km onto the much quieter and more scenic Tooborac-Baynton Rd. You will continue climbing up past the Tooborac Boulder fields (that’s what Google Maps calls them!) to Dairy Flat Rd. from where we will enjoy a lovely long downhill section on a good quality gravel road. Don’t forget to look up and stop occasionally to take in the beautiful views across the granite country. Eventually we will turn right into Hardings Lane and retrace our recent Heathcote – Tooborac ride with our FBKRT colleagues back to the Tooborac Hotel or store for coffee or lunch.
You can view the track file and elevation profile of this lovely route at https://ridewithgps.com/routes/12028042
This 27km route has about half gravel surface with significant climbs up to Dairy Flat Rd (along bitumen) so a MTB or Hybrid is recommended.
Meet at the Tooborac Recreation Reserve for an 0930 start. A list of MBUG ride meeting places is available on Google at http://g.co/maps/d4txy
