Where

Eltham Station carpark
1011 Main Rd, Eltham, Victoria

A very casual ride 28km ride along the Yarra Trail downstream from Eltham to Fairfield. The keen one’s can ride back upstream but the rest of us will use our Myki and catch the train back.  For a change today we will take a small deviation to visit Petty’s Orchard along the way. Petty’s has the largest collection of heritage fruit trees on the mainland (more information here) and a cafe which sounds like a good excuse for coffee which should sustain us until we get to Fairfield for lunch.
This far out in the boonies the Diamond Creek and Yarra Trails have gravel surfaces so MTB or hybrid are recommended.  As a bonus we get to ride the new section linking the Yarra and Darebin Creek trails as we approach Fairfield.
The proposed route may be viewed at https://ridewithgps.com/routes/30241940
Bring a bike lock with you – we are in the big smoke today and don’t forget your Myki.
Meet in the Eltham station carpark for an 0930 start. A list of MBUG ride start points can be found on Google maps at http://g.co/maps/d4txy.
Don’t forget to sign up and leave a contact number so we know who to expect on the day and more importantly who to call in the unlikely event that we need to cancel the ride due to inclement weather.
