Today’s ride will begin at Craigiburn where you will catch the 0855 from Craigieburn to Jacana, here you will alight the train and start riding down the Moonee Ponds Creek Trail to the Boeing Reserve. Rather than going straight into town via the Moonee Ponds Creek path, Eadaoin will lead you further west into Airport West to pick up a couple of local paths including the Steele Creek Trail which will take you to the Maribyrnong Trail. You will follow the Maribyrnong Trail to the Angliss Stock Bridge where you will cross the river and make your way up through the Kensington Saleyards estate to Newmarket Station where you will catch the “silver limo” back to Craigieburn (after refreshments of course!).
While the route as described is 35km long, don’t let this discourage you from coming – the riding is mostly downhill and you will have an optional stop for a coffee and a spell at about the half-way point or else you can continue and finish at Newmarket for lunch.
Don’t forget to bring your Myki for the trip home and your bike lock to ensure your bike is still there after lunch..
