Axedale Public Hall, Axedale, Victoria

Set this date aside for not only a great ride through lovely forest and quiet roads, but also for the opportunity to see the work which has been done in Axedale as part of the extension of the O’Keefe railtrail through to Heathcote several years ago.  After a short diversion to see the “Platypus compass” in the new community park, the new river crossing and the pedestrian underpass you will ride the O’Keefe Railtrail to Knowsley through the lovely Knowsley Forest.  At Knowsley we will leave the trail and ride the bitumen down to the Eppalock Spillway then back up to Axedale via the old Axedale station to view the recently refurbished goods wagon installed  there by the Friends of the Bendigo-Kilmore Rail Trail group.  After the ride you might choose to enjoy lunch or refreshments at the Axedale Tavern.
A plot of the proposed route can be viewed at https://ridewithgps.com/routes/34279556

Meet in the rear carpark of the Axedale Public Hall for an 0900 start.  Coming from the east along the McIvor Hwy, it is behind a low brick fence on the left just past the General Store on your right.
