This is the final ride in our “Follow the water” series which have each followed a section of the route of drinking water into Melbourne from Toorourrong Reservoir.
Previous rides in the series were:
1. Toorourrong Reservoir to Whittlesea,
2. Whittlesea to Yan Yean Reservoir
3. Epping Station to Mernda
It was originally intended that after meeting at the Epping Metro Station, we would ride along the shared path to South Morang and pick up the southbound section of the pipeline path from there, however the very wet conditions recently have meant that the grassed sections of the original route will be impassable. But don’t fret, instead we will still meet at the Epping Station, but will ride down the nearby Darebin Creek Trail and eventually pick up the pipeline path again near the corner of Keon Parade and Cheddar Rd. From here the route will continue to Northcote as originally planned.
The intention is to find somewhere to eat when we arrive at the end of the ride then catch the Metro train back to Epping to finish the day
The route is 25km long and is downhill most of the way.

We are in the big smoke today, so bring your lock, your Keep Cup, your Myki and sixpence tied in your hanky for lunch.
Surfaces are mostly sealed paths however there may be still a couple of gravel sections, so consider riding either a hybrid or MTB. .
Meet at Epping station for an 0900 start. Park your vehicle nearby as appropriate.
