Today we will have another attempt at riding from Epping station down to Fairfield. The last time we tried we managed to miss the turnoff to the Plenty River Trail off the Ring Road path but we have that sorted now after a recce ride earlier in the year.
The ride is mainly off-road along the Darebin Creek Trail, the Ring Road path, the Plenty River Trail and the Yarra Trail to Heidelberg. At Heidelberg we will use a combination of roads and off-road paths to get us over to Fairfield.
The plan is to have a casual lunch in Station St. Fairfield before riding over to Rushall or Merri station to catch the “silver limo” back to Epping – so don’t forget to bring your Myki.
The proposed route and elevations can be viewed at http://ridewithgps.com/routes/6878020
Meet at Epping station for an 0930 start and bring snacks to sustain you along the way. The ride is 35km and unless someone has opened a pop-up coffee shop along the trail, there is nowhere to buy tucker (or coffee).
